CHAIR PERSON: Ms. Ndeezi Doreen

Professional work experiences:

·    Over 10 years in Broadcast Media management; currently working as Manager Radios at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC).  In charge of supervising 12 Radio stations across the country and in 27 languages.

·   Broadcast Media journalist for over 15 years. Manager UBC TV, Programmes Manager UBC TV, Chief News Editor (Radio andTV), Producer, Editor and News Reporter.

·        Multimedia writing and production

·        Served as Board Member, Africa Farm Radio Research Initiative (AFRRI)

·   Coordinator:  UBC’s Radio programme supporting information for promoting women’s role in agriculture and rural development, under the funding of International Women’s Media Foundation

·     Focal person for African Broadcast Media Partnership against HIV / AIDS.

·    Participated in the translation of the book, “The disability movement in Uganda from English to Runyankole, Rukiga and Luganda”.

·     Led the media campaign for the National Dialogue on the Social Dimensions of Globalization in Uganda – Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.

·   Founder member Council for Economic Empowerment of Women in Africa (CEEWA) Uganda Chapter.

·        Founder member Alpha Development Centre.

BOARD MEMBER: Ms. Hope Mafaranga

Professional work experiences:

  • August 2015 to 2022: Regional Editor / Senior Producer at New Vision, Kampala
  • Pivotal roles are commissioning, editing stories and maintaining the content quality of the New Vision that meets the international media ethical standards.
  • Ensure that the paper is designed in a manner that appeals to the public, readers, and advertisers.
  • Oversee the production of Regional News to meet deadlines and ensure accuracy on what goes on in the New Vision newspaper and Social Media platforms.
  • Coach 450 writers and 30 sub-editors to improve on their skills and knowledge in line with emerging trends in the media.
  • 2012 –  2015: Sub Editor and Health Editor at Orumuri, Mbarara
  • Manage the Orumuri newspaper’s Social Media platforms and Corporate Social Responsibility. Supervise and guide the 107 frontline staff and four Territory Bureau Chiefs and ensure that investigative and special report
    stories ideas are generated and achieved.
  • Write, edit, and design lead stories and head the health pullout of the paper.
  • 2011 – 2015: Communities Delegation Board Member at Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and malaria
  • Ensure that the voices of People Living with and affected by HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria are heard by the Board.
  • Participate in the writing of Delegation Strategic Plans, Statements and Position papers and attend all Board meetings of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
  • Influence the deliberations and decisions on investments and programmes of the Global Fund to achieve a greater and sustained Impact on Communities.
  • Ensure that Community’s participation in the Global Fund results in Universal Access to Quality Prevention, Treatment, Care and Support based on the principles of Equity and Human Rights.
  • Attend the Uganda Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) and submit funding applications to the Global Fund on behalf of Uganda 
BOARD MEMBER: Harriet Kugonza

Professional work experiences:

  • She is a qualified Ugandan female Journalist having a diploma in Journalism from Uganda Institute of business and media studies, and then graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass communication from Kampala International University.
  • She has so far worked with Grace Fm as a News-reader/reporter, and then  Kibale-kagadi community radio as a News Editor/ reader, from where she joined Life Fm as a manager/News-reader, and letter joined Rwenzori Fm as an Editor till she was promoted to Eiraka media training center as an administrator and a trainer. On top of that she worked with Uganda health marketing board as a researcher, but she’s also a News reporter for Vision group and an Executive Director Buliisa Grassroot women Association.(BUGWA)
BOARD MEMBER: Murangi Lucy

Professional work experiences:

  • She’s a phycologist with bachelor’s degree of guidance and counseling from Kyambogo University.
  • Not only that she has worked with TASO Uganda and Uganda AIDS club as a counselor, but also worked with Uganda electronic technologies as an administrator, worked with as Uganda microfinance, premier credit microfinance and FINCA  Bank as a loans/credit officer. Currently is working as parish chief with Kyenjojo District local government.
